Barbara Solomon

All of my works are monoprints combining a number of printmaking techniques including collographs, intaglio, stencils, and lithography. Several are on paper that was hand-dyed prior to printing. I print at the Kirkland Arts Center in Kirkland, Washington. Upon retiring in 2006, I immediately joyously discovered my second career as a Printmaker.

The birds in these works escape from the cages and houses people have created for them. They make long journeys. They find less disturbed places to nest and rear their young. The pretty houses and confining cages stand empty. The empty cage is an icon I use frequently to symbolize both the struggle and the release of these escapes.

Barbara's works range in price from $375 to $1,200.
